Where is travencore state in India?
The Travancore State, also known as the Kingdom of Travancore, was a historical kingdom located at the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent. It covered most of the southern part of modern-day Kerala and the southernmost part of Tamil Nadu. Specifically, it included areas now part of the Kerala districts of Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram, as well as parts of Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. In Tamil Nadu, it included the Kanyakumari district and parts of Tenkasi district1.
After India gained independence, Travancore merged with Cochin to form the Travancore-Cochin state in 1949. Later, on November 1, 1956, Travancore-Cochin merged with the Malabar District of Madras State to form the modern state of Kerala, according to the States Reorganisation Act of 19562.
